Jersey City locked twin 30-year Canal Crossing tax exemptions on Sept. 23–24, 2026. Stage One ASC is the greater of prior taxes or 10% of Annual Gross Revenue; the county gets 5% of ASC — not a full ad-valorem share.

Governor Mikie Sherrill returned S-4513 and S-4514 without approval on Sept. 28, 2026, blocking a Jersey City open-space diversion and a rental-vehicle tax bill she said would not fix a fiscal crisis rooted in prior “one-shots.”
